In the 80's, basketball sneakers were being manufactured at speeds of light. Nike introduced the Air Force 1, the Air Jordan 1 was released for the first time, and even adidas joined in the race. The adidas Rivalry High sneakers were introduced in 1986, in a blue-and-white version with orange detail, denoting the partnership with Patrick Ewing, a legendary New York Knicks player. The fame of these sneakers did not take long to come about and they became an instant hit not only on the basketball court, but also on the streets. And no wonder.
